In Memory of Chief Jeff Edwards

It is with deep regret the Donald Wescott Fire Protection must announce the passing of Chief Jeff “Never Give Up” Edwards. Jeff served as Chief of the Department from January 2006 to December 2010.

He served in the Wyoming Air National Guard as a firefighter and was deployed three times to Iraq on six-month deployments as an Active Duty service member.

Chief Edwards was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer in June of 2009 and was given three to six months to live. After being diagnosed, Chief did not retire or give up – in fact, he started fighting for his life. During his illness, he continued to pass all departmental physical agility tests, competed in a body building contest, and led by example. During his tenure at Wescott, he procured 2 new engines, one ladder truck and secured approval to build a new fire station within the District boundaries. It goes without saying he will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters at the WFPD.

Jeff was only 48 years old at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife Deb, two children Amber and Brian, as well as his parents and a large extended family.
